All pieces are made with acrylic paint. The surfaces are ph-neutral, acid-free, lignin-free mat boards, or acid-free art papers.
Different surfaces, whether rougher, or glossier, result in different reactions from the paint. The metallic paints are quite reflective, tend to shift as light and viewing angle changes, and are very difficult to photograph, particularly the foil pieces. A lot of the color drop-off noted on the foil pieces is simply my limited photographic capability. But you get the idea.
I have been making art all my life, chasing an elusive something, which, at the moment, has manifested itself more fully than ever before in Spin Art.
A childhood encounter with Spin Art at the State Fair of Oklahoma in the 1960's lay dormant in my mind, never fully leaving the to-do list, where it lay until five some-odd decades later, to be suddenly manifest in the spring of 2018.
Works range in size from 5" x 7" and 8" x 10" to 12" x 12" and 16" x 20". I find the most effective work is smaller; all the initial creative activity is in the center, anyway. Kinda like life.
